Hi, I’m Melissa!
This blog was created due to my passion for both epic fantasy and sparkly, fairytale-inspired crochet, and my desire to connect with other sparkly people! I will be sharing my opinions on books, as well as my own writing and crocheted pieces, but I would love to chat about fantasy, writing, crocheting, creativity and creative health.
I have been reading and writing fantasy since I was in my early teens. These days, I definitely prefer diverse, feminist fantasy, primarily high fantasy for adults – but I read broadly and would love any recommendations. Crocheting is a more recent hobby (about 5 years) and I still have a lot to learn (I still don’t entirely understand how yarn weight works), but I enjoy discovering new crocheting techniques and experimenting.
Although I currently reside in Bournemouth, I grew up in Denmark. I do write in Danish as well, though this blog is completely in English – however, if you’re Danish, do say hej!
Creative Writing Workshops
I also work as a freelance writing workshop facilitator. I am very passionate about writing being fun, accessible and supportive. Writing is all about imagination and creativity, and I think both can be very beneficial for many people’s wellbeing. I have an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing, as well as several years of experience working in schools, and now offer a variety of in-person writing workshops in Bournemouth and surrounding areas.
